about kergi design

We have a clear goal - create original, thoughtful products that speak their own design language and will show how high quality FDM 3D printing can be if You know what You're doing.

kergi design is actually a short from Kacper Gajewski design, a sole propriatorship. Currently having no employees, so when "we" is mentioned it's really just me with big aspirations ;)

The Story

As a kid I played a lot with bricks, wires, batteries and small DC motors. I literally always loved the creation process, so when in my youth I learned that 3D printing is becoming more accessible pricewise - I saved for it and pulled a trigger right after my 18th birthday. Quickly I acquired an educational license for Fusion360 and started learning CAD. Unfortunately that printer lasted maybe a year and errors started popping out, so my 3D printing journey got shelved.

Fast forward a few years and I got an ender 3V2 - definite step up, but I still had an issue after issue. I've never been super interested in 3D printers themselves, but with what I can achieve using them, so that experience so far was really just frustrating.

Then in 2024 I bought my first Bambu Lab - A1 combo and that was exactly what I was looking for - machine that just enabled me to design and create.

My professional background is actually IT and declarative coding and scripting is my daily bread. With that in mind - it's really no surprise that when I discovered OpenSCAD I simply fell in love with the possibilities.

Then I designed just a few things, published them on makerworld.com and those got literally thousands of prints in the first year. Many people reached out to me with a desire to acquire a commercial license. Those were strong signs that I should sell my own products, so in 2025 I started this store with a dream that someday it will become something special.

At kergi design, sustainability isn't just a buzzword - it's built into everything we do.

Our Commitment to Sustainability: The 4 R's

1. ReDesign

Our products are thoughtfully designed with FDM 3D printing in mind from the very beginning. By working with the strengths of this technology, we create designs that require minimal or no support material, generating only tiny amounts of waste plastic - definitely less than traditional manufacturing methods. We use PLA wherever we can, a biodegradable polymer that you can find in everyday products like juice box caps, making our materials more environmentally friendly.

2. Reduce

We're committed to reducing our environmental footprint at every step. If it's available - we use filament refills that come on cardboard cores with nothing unnecessary. Small products like our keycaps require only small printers, which consume less electricity. Whenever possible, we utilize "cool plates", which require less heating - further reducing energy consumption.

3. Reuse

We do not put into circulation any plastic packaging - only paper. We take pride in reusing suitable packaging materials that come our way. Don't be surprised if your product arrives in a repurposed box that once contained a filament roll! This approach gives existing materials a second life and prevents unnecessary waste.

4. Recycle

Despite producing minimal waste material, we meticulously collect everything - including every prototype and any unit that doesn't meet our rigorous quality standards. We're currently developing processes to transform these materials into completely new products, closing the loop on our manufacturing cycle and further reducing our environmental impact.
